Former musician Brendan Morrissey has crafted a notable, new app that provides incredible support for individuals living with both dyslexia and ADHD. Called ‘iDyslexia’, the app had been made prevalent with users in Ireland, however Morrissey hopes to expand the assistance world wide.
As explained by Irish Tech News, “iDyslexic is an easy-to-use digital platform that allows the Child, Parent, Teacher and Case Worker to log into a secure classroom to aid continuous support and development.”
For a more social feature, the app serves as a platform for other individuals struggling with ADHD and dyslexia, allowing them to upload posts and photos for their virtual friends to experience. This platform also allows for mentoring from peers also utilizing the app.
A proud Morrissey explained, “This has been a long journey for me. I left school at 15 because there was no diagnosis for Dyslexia-ADHD at that time, meaning I have always had to battle my way through seemingly simple tasks, such as reading and writing. Through iDyslexic, we are working hard to build a community that supports children across the globe and shows them they are not alone in their struggles, moving away from the negative aspects of the condition. As many as one in ten children suffer with Dyslexia, some say one in five, so we need to provide a platform that explains it’s not going to hold them back, and that their creativity and different way of thinking will be a huge benefit throughout their life.”
